The Linksys RE9000 Range Extender can be easily set up in different two ways, 

  • Range Extender mode
  • Access Point mode

 Before beginning with the process, ensure to have the following requirements:

  • A dual-band wireless home router or access point 
  • A computer device or tablet with Wi-Fi capability
  • The Wi-Fi name as well as the password of your router
  • Your Linksys RE9000 Range Extender should be at factory settings for the initial setup for this, press and hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds

Let’s begin

Step 1:

 Firstly turn ON the Linksys RE9000 and wait until the light blinks orange.

 Step 2:

 Now, using a Wi-Fi-enabled device, check for Linksys Extender Setup in the series of Wi-Fi and then simply connect to it.

Step 5:

 Under As a wireless range extender option, you will found the Next button, click on that.

 Now, by default, it will search for a 5 GHz Wi-Fi and utilize it as an upstream connection for exceptional performance. You are required to connect it to your existing 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.

NOTE: 

If you have a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, no worry! Scroll it down and select the Choose 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band option.

Step 7:

 Type your Network Password in the password field and then tap on Next. Your network password is also called as the Wi-Fi passcode.

 A page will open there, click on Next.

 NOTE: It is recommended to leave Band Steering ON

If you want to create unique names for your range extender’s radio band, uncheck Band Steering and then type in your essentials in the space provided and then click on Next.

 Look for the Linksys RE9000’s best location through the Spot Finder technology.

Clicking on the Find better location button will show you the on-screen instructions as given below. Follow these instructions until you see that the placement is highlighted as Just right. Else, just click on Back and choose Connect anyway to move to the next step.

 Once you are done, change your admin password of the Linksys RE9000 then clickonthe Save button. 

 QUICK TIP: Password hint will help you in recalling your admin password if in case, you forget it.

 Now, register your Linksys RE9000 extender by typing your Email Address in the field given. Click on Next when you are done.

 Now connect the wireless device to a new and unique  Wi-Fi. Clicking on the Next button will turn it blue if the connection is successful. Click on Next.

 NOTE: We assume that the Linksys RE9000 is on factory defaults. To reset the Linksys RE9000, press and hold the Reset button for at least 5 seconds.

How to manually reset Linksys RE9000 

 For resetting the Linksys RE9000, press the Reset button that is located at the back panel for at least 5 seconds. You can also mark the reset of Linksys RE9000 extender through its web-based setup page. For these purposes, you have to follow the instructions given below.

The Linksys RE9000 is a tri-band ethernet bridge and an ultimate extender. For accessing the web-based setup page of the extender is done by following the instructions given below.

 NOTE: In this, we have assumed that the Linksys RE9000 extender has been already set up. If you have not set it up yet, there is no need to worry as there are two ways to access the web-based setup page. You can either set it up as a range extender or through an access point.
